Community Forum Rules and Posting Guidelines

Welcome all Webber & Quentin TMO Residents!

We are thrilled to be able to provide this open and inclusive space for you to share your ideas and suggestions with your fellow neighbours about the Webber and Quentin estate. We encourage members to have open and candid discussions and debates. With that in mind, we ask that all members please follow these simple rules in order to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable. We will not censor members for expressing an opinion within the limits of these ‘Community Rules and Posting Guidelines. However, all communications should be civil and polite. Members should treat each other with respect and consideration for all points of view.

Please READ through this document carefully as saying you ‘didn’t know’ will not be accepted as an excuse in the event that you either innocently or deliberately violated the ‘Community Rules and Posting Guidelines’.

Community Forum Rules:

Golden Rule – Be helpful, polite, kind, thoughtful and respectful of others at all times. Communicate in a way that you would want to be communicated with.

PLEASE NOTE: You are responsible for all of your own posts and for nobody else’s posts. If somebody else breaks the rules, that does not permit you to do the same or to respond in kind. Instead, alert a Moderator.

Humour and tone are subjective – Please be aware that one person’s joke is another person’s insult. Humour and tone can very easily be misinterpreted in print, so please take care with your choice of language. W&Q TMO Community Forum is home to residents of widely varying backgrounds, languages, cultures, opinions, experiences, budgets, and preferences. Please embrace and show respect for these differences. It’s what makes us Diverse and Inclusive after all. Please don’t take things personally and react accordingly.

If you feel another community member is not being mindful of their humour or tone in their post, please bring the specific post to the attention of a Moderator immediately.

If your post has been reviewed and deemed to be offensive in any way, you will be notified and asked to amend your post accordingly. You will be given 24 hrs in which to do so. If you refuse to amend your post or the 24hrs expires, it will be deleted.

Abusive/ Harassing/ Trolling Posts – Do not harass, insult, taunt, provoke, demean, attempt to ‘call out’, use inflammatory language to insight hatred, discriminate, personally attack other community members, post sarcastic, hostile or malicious remarks or observations, use name calling, racist or sexist/ sexual orientation references, physically or verbally threatening language. Be friendly even if others are not.

If you believe another community member to be in violation of any of the above, report the specific post to a Moderator IMMEDIATELY.

If your post has been reviewed and deemed to violate any of the above, taking into account the severity of the post, initial action will be to delete your post. If further action is deemed appropriate you will be notified immediately.

Freedom Of Speech – Everyone has the right to their own opinion, even if you disagree. Don’t challenge or attack others. The discussions on the forum are meant to stimulate conversation, not to create contention. Let others have their say, just as you may. Be respectful and polite when sharing your own opinions on another community member’s post. The rules are not designed to censor opinions. However, keep in mind that you are a guest on a private website, so we reserve the right to remove content that is not in the ‘spirit’ or goals of W&Q TMO.

Private discussions: Sometimes, a discussion thread strays off into a friendly dialogue or a heated debate among a very small number of users. For these exchanges, we ask that you take these discussions outside the forum.

Profanity – W&Q TMO Community Forum will not tolerate adult, vulgar, obscene, discriminatory or offensive language of any sort, this includes simulated, insinuated and abbreviated swearing. Keep it clean.

Sexual References/ Content – Do not post any material or words relating to sexual references or content, including but not limited to images/ GIFs/ Videos/ Links. Doing so will result in an immediate Ban, without notification.

No Selling/ Advertising/ Self-Promoting/ Soliciting – Forums may not be used to sell, advertise, self-promote or solicit for business, others or your own products or services, be them free or paid services. This includes but is not limited to MLM or NM companies (Multi Level Marketing/ Network Marketing), Chain Letters, Referral Links, External website promotions. Posts that contain pricing information will be considered abuse and removed. If you have any suggestions for helpful information that would benefit the community, please contact either the TMO Manager at contact@wandqtmo.org or contact a Moderator.

No SPAM – Posting the same message, or an unsolicited commercial message, to one or many posts or forums is considered spam and will be removed. Duplicate messages may also be deleted.

No ‘Fake News’ – Do not post any local, countrywide, or global news that could be considered ‘Fake News’. Remember, ALL external links must be approved by a Moderator before posting.

Personal Information – Do not ask for or post another member’s personal information in the community forum, not for any reason. It is a violation of the personal data protection act and breaks GDPR compliance. Doing so will result in an instant Ban.

IMPORTANT: The W&Q TMO Community Forum reserves the right to determine if a post is in violation of these rules and will decide on the appropriate course of action. We operate a ‘3 Strikes and You’re Out’ rule on most violations. However, we reserve the right to assess violations on a case-by-case basis and will issue a ‘Life Ban’ if we feel a more serious violation has been committed. The decision is final.

Any post that otherwise violates any law; or that encourages conduct constituting a criminal offense will be reported to the authorities immediately.

Posting Guidelines:

Search First – Use the ‘search’ bar to see if a similar topic has already been discussed or addressed before you post.

Keep Posts Simple – Comments and contributions to forum threads or posts should be descriptive, succinct, and relevant to discussion or forum topic. Keep your posts readable. Don’t post in all capital letters, symbols and keep the title of a post on topic. Comments shouldn’t be meaningless and should add some value to the conversation. If in doubt, follow these 3 easy steps…

Step 1. Subject line: This can be either a question or a statement. For example, “Are we going to have a garden party this year?” or “I’d love to see a garden party happen this year…”. An example of a ‘poor’ subject line would be, “help please” or “I have a question”. Be specific and relate your subject line to the Forum topic.

Step 2. Post content: This can be something like sharing your suggestions for what kind of entertainment we could have or how you can help build interest and bring the community together for the day.

Step 3. Closing statement: Ask what others think of your idea. Encourage everyone to share their thoughts and suggestions. This is a brilliant opportunity to gather as much information as possible from as many community members as possible.

Be constructive – When responding to posts, comments should be helpful and informative, not negative and hurtful of anyone’s questions or ideas. Please refrain from giving ‘unsolicited’ advice. This can lead to misinterpretations and can be harmful in some cases.

Do not cross-post questions – Posting the same message across multiple threads and or forums is prohibited. Doing so will result in all your posts being deleted and you will receive a warning. Choose the right forum for your post

External Links – Only ‘approved’ links are allowed inside the community forum. Please contact the TMO Manager at contact@wandqtmo.org or a Moderator for more information.

Off Topic – Please keep to topic in the Forums and Posts. If Moderators feel the conversation is going ‘off topic’ then we will suggest you make a new post, round up the conversation to a conclusion or ask that the conversation be taken ‘off-line’.

Personal Information – Do not share personal information about physical or mental health, or family and social issues. This is not the place and it could be ‘triggering’ for another member. If you need help in any of these areas, please contact your local GP or use the links provided on the website. If in doubt, contact the TMO Manager for further guidance at contact@wandqtmo.org

Reporting Abuse – If you feel a post is in violation of one or more of the W&Q TMO Community Rules and Guidelines, please contact a Moderator immediately by emailing contact@wandqtmo.org with the Email subject line “ Forum violation”.

W&Q TMO Community Forum reserves the right to remove any post for any reason. We are obviously keen to keep the removal of posts to a minimum, but we will take the necessary steps to ensure our forum is as welcoming and conducive as possible to helpful discussion and to serving the best interest of all W&Q TMO community members.

Moderators:

Responsibilities – To better facilitate conversation, moderators may move off-topic threads to another appropriate forum, close threads or delete off-topic posts at their discretion.

Back Seat Moderation – Let the Forum Moderators do the moderating. Back-seat Moderating is when people who are not Moderators try to enforce the forum rules. Whenever you see a person breaking the rules, take advantage of the “Report” link. Or simply just IGNORE the offensive post(s) or thread.

Discussing Moderator Based Actions – Actions taken against a member of the community are not to be discussed on the forums. Opinions about specific moderators or moderator actions are also not to be discussed in posts or threads. Please do not start any topics that pertain to moderation of your posts/threads being removed. For example: ‘Why was my post deleted?’ or ‘Why did you delete this topic?’.  These will be removed without notice.

Continued questions regarding moderators or moderation actions could possibly result in a warning, temp ban or even a Life Ban.

Content related to disciplinary actions of other members is considered private information between ‘W&Q TMO Community Forum’ and the affected party. This includes, but is not limited to, discussion of:

  • Infractions,
  • Forum suspensions or bans,
  • Appeals,
  • Deletion, closure or movement of posts or threads.

If you have questions, remarks, suggestions or complaints about moderating in general or specific moderators, please contact our website admin through a private message at contact@wandqtmo.org with the Subject Line  “Forum Query”
