We are looking for residents to join the TMO’s HR sub-committee…….

The TMO has a small committee of up to five residents who support the TMOs Human Resources (HR) function.  We will soon be needing at least one and possibly two new members.  This committee meets at least quarterly for 2 hours (via Zoom), and its purpose is to:

  • oversee the recruitment of new staff;
  • review staff remuneration and performance;
  • review HR policy, including performance, terms and conditions, welfare, annual leave and sickness;
  • assist the board in fulfilling its statutory obligations as an employer;
  • report to the board and general meetings

The TMO is a small business with a small number of staff, so we have a contract with an organisation which provides HR consultancy services.  Currently we use Moorepay, https://www.moorepay.co.uk/services/hr-employment-law/.  The HR sub-committee therefore also supports the TMR around the letting, management and review of the HR support contract. 

Being a member of the HR committee gives insight into how the TMO works as a non-profit organisation whose main aims are to provide better services than can be offered by the council, and to build up a surplus which will be added to other fund-raising efforts in progress to make improvements on the estate.  The HR committee is supported by the TMO manager, and the Board.  This is a key committee which ensures the smooth operational running of the TMO and, that we are discharging our duty to our valued staff members, who are the backbone of the TMO.

You don’t need to have HR experience (although that would indeed be helpful), you just need to be willing to attend the meetings, to read the documents, to thoughtfully discuss the issues, and to volunteer to support with tasks as needed. 

Without a functioning HR sub-committee, the TMO is not able to run as an organisation, so please do consider if you might be interested in joining – we’re keen for new people to become involved.
